Grumpy Day Alert!

Arnold and I both spent five hours doing homework today, for one class. I'm looking for a funny angle on this, but just not finding it...? Arnold spent five hours yesterday grading papers and is looking to top my five hours of homework today. Everyone reading the blog should carefully consider these things before becoming a teacher or entering an M.A. program whilst working.

Also SOMEBODY as in some bird or something ate half of both of my TOMATOS. I only had two tomatos growing on my tomato non-cherry tomato plant and that pinche pajarito ate not just one but two of them. After all my hard work weeding and watering this summer! That little bird better watch out, because after all I'm half GAD and half BWM so I'm going to give it something to cry about!!!

For whatever reason, I am having trouble uploading the pictures so you'll have to wait till next week until I can either figure it out or get my erstwhile webmaster Chhimi to help me out, but until then I would like to give a SHOUT OUT to my new friend Elmer P. Maghanoy who I assume was googleing himself and found this site. Rock on! Elmer, why don't you tell the readers at maghanoy.com a little bit about yourself and we can post it to the blog?

Also in continuing mundane and un-related news, Arnold and I have gotten TIVO at my insistence (I won the battle Sage!) and have been busy making our fall tv schedule, which is embarsingly long. Here's our reccomendations for this fall:

Grey's Anatomy
The Office
Scrubs
Ugly Betty (Woo-hoo finally she comes to American shores!)
Lost
What about Brian?
How I met your Mother

Project Runway
Queer eye for the Straight Guy
Good Deal with Dave Lieberman
Nigella Feasts
The Chelsea Handler Show
Nightline (Obviously Arnold's pick)

And as I make this list, obviously it is obviously apalling that we watch this much t.v., but come on we are grad students and work full time. Shouldn't we get to be mindless and hour or so each day?

So a series of forces combined last weekend to make it the best five day birthday celebration ever! My sweet husband Arnold got me exactly what I wanted for my birthday (new JT album) without my even having to drop hints! My office mates got my cube crazy with balloons. My awesome friends Chhimi(and Tabitha) treated me to a sushi lunch at Mikunis and then I spun the birthday wheel and won $100 worth of free sushi!!! Awesome! And then as if things couldn't get better Lisa brought peanut butter pie to my party on Friday night! Talk about bringing sexy back! That doesn't include the billions of other nice things so many people did for me. I have to say that all and all the balloon that Daniela and Guillermo brought when they took me out to dinner sums it up.... SWEET! Pictures from the party to come soon. Posted by Picasa

Attention!!!!! I feel another milestone has been reached on the blog as we now have International Readership from both China and Cambodia!

So the topic of the day is Rice

Word has is that Rachel the gardener is posting to the blog from Cambodia. And in other trivial news she is getting tired of eating rice.... which I TOTALLY understand. Now, I know what you are all thinking. What kind of Filipino gets tired of rice? A HALFY who spent every meal of her childhood eating it as a side with other starches such as potatoes, pizza, spaghetti etc. My GAD as you may suspect is a big rice fan. He literally will eat rice 3 (or more times a day). Th surest way to get on his good side is to compliment his rice cooking abiltiies. Although I rarely eat rice now, like the daughter of any good pinoy I have a rice cooker and a ridiculously big bag of two types of rice in my pantry. And sometimes when I feel sad I fry myself up a gigantic plate of rice with garlic. Mmmm... The only accoutrements I'm lacking to really Maghanoy-out my kitchen are a rice dispenser. (B-day present GAD?) and a pair of MONSTER GIGANTIC FORK AND SPOON for my my walls. Que viva Maghanoylandia!!!

Live from Temecula, CA, the blog has officially broken through the 4th wall.

While examining a normal t-shirt promoting fruits and vegetables
"Are these t-shirts made out of vegetables?" - BWM (Mom)

"ooohhh, that is a good quote for the blog." - GAD (DAd)

So here you go Gaddy, printed on the blog by your request.

In other news Middle Maghanoy had his first kick-boxing match last night. From what I gather it didn't go as planned, but I have little understanding of the sport, so I thought it seemed okay. I figure as long as one stays on their feet and doesn't bleed or break anything it's pretty much a win. Plus it was really, really fun to scream and cheer. Woo-hoo! MAGHANOY!

Back in June my friend Rachel came to visit and helped me plant my very first garden. I haven't had much luck with edible vegetation in the past, but it looks like my luck is changing. Thanks Rach! Today Arnold and I munched on Tacos de Acelgas(Swiss chard tacos) and soon we will be eating insalata caprese with tomatoes & basil fresh from the "garden". "Garden" being a term I have to use loosely seeing as I'm totally negligent about weeding. Rach meanwhile has moved on to bigger projects, she's currently training in Cambodia to become an ag missionary in the Peruvian amazon. Rock on Rachel!!! In other totally un-related news my cousin Dan recently moved to Sac! And now Arnold and I have family in town! One by one y'all will move here! Muwa-ha-ha-ha!Posted by Picasa
